The Wonders of Goldenrod

Living on a 120-acre farm, there are so many wild plants that have healing qualities that can be used effectively for common (and not-so common) ailments.  One of these is Goldenrod.  We have perhaps 10 acres growing wild on our farm.  To look out onto the field with nothing but tall golden flowering plants is a sight to behold.

Goldenrod is the common name for many species of flowering plants in the sunflower family, The goldenrod on our farm is from the genus Solidago which means “to make whole or heal.” It is most often used as a supplement for improving urinary health and reducing inflammation, however, it can also be used effectively in inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria and yeast like Candida albicans.

Goldenrod surprisingly has been shown to have a greater antioxidant capability than green tea.  As such, it makes a wonderful tea.  It contains many plant compounds such as saponins, which have anti-fungal effects, and flavonoids, which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory functions.

Having been involved in the natural products arena for nearly 30 years, there are thousands of companies that have created natural products. For the lay person, it is difficult to determine which of the many companies that make goldenrod, for example, will have the greatest effectiveness?  “Will this really work?”  “Are the manufacturers being honest in what they say this product will do?  When one is spending hard-earned money, you want to make sure it is effective! 

Sacred Source Healing is a new company that has asked a group of individuals to sample our goldenrod and the rest of our product line. We have been very heartened by the responses received as to its efficacy for a number of health ailments.
